4 Reasons Why Cooked Food is Highly Addictive

“Raw Foods are much easier to implement than it seems. The biggest hurdle is not the physiological but psychological aspects. As Walter Bagehot once remarked, ‘The pain of a new idea is one of the greatest pains in human nature…Your favorite notions may be wrong, your firmest beliefs ill founded.’ And your favorite foods may be the root cause of your greatest pains! It’s a fact of life that people find it easier to believe a lie they’ve heard a thousand times than a fact they’ve never heard before.” -Daniel P. Reid, The Tao of Sex, Health, and Longevity
Cooked Food is Highly Addictive on 4 Levels:
1. CHEMICAL: All carbohydrates that are cooked turn into Sucrose – the same chemical composition of white sugar. Sucrose or white sugar is one of the most addictive substances in the world. Its molecular structure is very similar to cocaine. Brown Rice, Squash, Potatoes, etc, they all appear to be healthy carbohydrates on the outside, but by looking closely through a microscope, these cooked carbs are the same as WHITE SUGAR.
2. BIOLOGICAL: We have all been raw foodists at one point of our lives. When we were babies, the first year or two of our lives we were given raw foods and breast milk. Uncooked, unpasteurized. Then pediatricians tell the mother they need to introduce cooked foods to the baby’s diet. The mother quickly buys a colorful bottle of cooked foods that has been on the shelf for 18 months. What happens then? The baby normally spits out these strange cooked foods upon first bite because they recognize it is not a natural food. The body says, hey, ouch, quick, out of the body. But because this substance is addictive, it takes three times and the baby gets accustomed to it and begins to like it. We are now programmed to be cooked food eaters.
But the good news is (according to a book by Dr. Zamanov called Sacred Wisdom of the Human Body), by eating a 100% raw food diet for only 2 MONTHS, your body will be capable of flipping back and actually produce only digestive juices needed to digest raw foods which is MUCH LESS. The cooked diet requires 2 GALLONS of digestive juices per day, whereas Raw Foods only require 2 CUPS of digestive fluids. The difference is huge! To produce 2 GALLONS of digestive fluids the body needs to occupy 80% of the body’s energy, which explains why cooked foods make us so heavy, sluggish and lethargic.
3. MENTAL / EMOTIONAL: Stress! No one has ever taught us how to properly handle stress like drinking water or taking a walk (to release endorphins). Since we were babies we’ve been taught to eat something to relax. We give babies lollipops, cakes, cookies or anything to put in their mouths to calm down. We all know that cucumbers won’t help. So we’re psychologically trained to eat junk to feel better, but most of these foods are not nutritious. Most don’t know how to cope with emotions, and if we are left alone with our emotions and we don’t have anything to eat, it will be very uncomfortable.
4. SPIRITUAL: This is the hardest level of all. We are all spiritual beings, every single person. As a spiritual being we have spiritual tasks, but we are too busy dealing with material demands of bills, jobs, etc. So we tend to leave any spiritual needs in last place. But this lack of spirituality make us feel empty because no material thing in this world can give us real happiness, only pleasure. Nice cars, clothes, drugs, etc. is pleasure, not happiness. The easiest and most accessible pleasure is cooked food. Cooked foods give us the kind of pleasure that we mistake for happiness. However, most don’t know that this is a pleasure that wastes and drains our hormones and energy. People with a lot of money buy all the cooked food they want, but they don’t realize they are eating their happy hormones away. This is one of the reasons why so many rich people are depressed and deal with the agony of a spiritual hole in their lives. Each one of us has a special spiritual mission and when one doesn’t follow the spiritual mission, problems quickly arise.
To become a 100% raw vegan one has to become a warrior and defeat these four “dragons” within ourselves!
