The spirulina makes it super by adding an astounding array of nutrients including chloropyll, protein, vitamins, major minerals, trace minerals, essential fatty acids, nucleic acids (RNA and DNA), and a vast spectrum of antioxidants. When choosing Spirulina, make sure to go for the best in quality. Others are not so great tasting. My favorite is David Wolfe’s spirulina which is grown in excellent air quality up at 9500 foot elevation on the Equator in the Andes and is fed with glacier water from Cotopaxi. According to their website, this provides an excellent flavor profile and also contains the highest source of phycocyanin available in any commercial Spirulina!
Spirulina is also incredibly high in calcium with over 26 times the calcium in milk, making it excellent for children, the elderly and during pregnancy.
It is also known to successfully treat radiation sickness and to prevent and protect against Radioactive Damage! Read more about this here: http://bit.ly/1ajTQh9
Spirulina can bind with heavy metals in the body and help remove them. Some research has suggested that Spirulina may be helpful in allergies and allergic reactions.
Spirulina can also increase fat burning during exercise.
